Rockville has had a farmers market for many years now. This year, it’s running:

  • Saturdays
  • March 16, 2015 through November 21, 2015
  • 9 am to 1 pm

We love the farmers market. We really appreciate that many of the 20 or so vendors each week are local, small-scale farmers or food makers. I stopped in this past Saturday, despite it being a rainy day. The photo above shows what I purchased, from some of our favorite vendors (in alphabetical order)…

> Praline Bakery & Bistro – Bethesda, MD – www.praline-bakery.com
Lemon drop cookies
> Quarter Branch Farm – Lovettsville, VA – www.quarterbranchfarm.com
Tomatoes, beets, onions, cucumber, cilantro
> Query Mill Farm – Darnestown, MD – www.facebook.com/pages/Query-Mill-Farm/1438349039802682
Red potatoes
> Unger’s Fruit Farm – Hampstead, MD
Blueberries
> Wee Bit Farm – New Windsor, MD – www.facebook.com/WeeBitFarm
Homemade dill pickles (probably the best I’ve ever had!)

I used some of what I bought to make a batch of gazpacho soup. If you’re not familiar with gazpacho, it’s a cold soup usually made with raw vegetables. It’s great in the summer. Here’s my recipe, if you’re interested: larrygiammo.com/2015/06/29/my-gazpacho-recipe/.
