We’d heard from friends about the ice cream here. We stopped in for the first time last night.

The shop’s been open for a few years now. Wish we had visited sooner. The ice cream is great (and so is the service). What really makes this place stand out is the flavors – inspired by the Caribbean (and Jamaica, in particular) and unique.

In addition to the usual suspects like vanilla, chocolate, etc. their tropical selection includes: guava, mango, lucuma, passion fruit, soursop, ginger, lychee and sapote. Where else can you find these? We sampled some, then settled on lucuma, soursop and sapote. I won’t attempt to describe them, but we really enjoyed them. Best if you try them and see what you like best.

The shop is located on Rockville Pike (officially Hungerford Pike, along this stretch of road) where Kohr Brothers used to be. It’s been completely remodeled, both inside and out.

It’s great to have York Castle here in Rockville. What a wonderful example of the phenomenal diversity we have here in Rockville and Montgomery County.
