Anyone who’s visited Rockville’s town center in winter anytime in the last few years knows about the ice skating that’s available there. Between mid-October and mid-March, you can skate every day including holidays, on the temporary, outdoor ice rink. The technology’s effective – even during a warm spell, the ice stays frozen. They’ve upgraded their chillers this year so there’s never a worry about the ice, even on the warmest days.
Our daughter skates here regularly with her friends. It’s a very family-friendly environment. And, the rink’s right in the middle of town center with its restaurants and other amenities.
Most days, you can skate from noon until either 10 pm (Sunday through Thursday) or 11 pm (Fridays and Saturdays). Skates are available for rent. And, they have storage lockers which you can use for free to secure your belongings. See their website for details.
Tips/suggestions:
- There’s ample parking in the three town center parking garages (A, B and C on the map below). Parking for the first two hours is free, with validation. So, be sure to bring your parking ticket to the rink for them to validate it. Also, this year between November 26 and January 4, parking is free after 6 pm and on weekends.
